OUR STORY OF FIRSTS

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

"When we defied convention and planted the first Sauvignon Blanc vines in the Marlborough region of New Zealand back in 1975, most said it couldn’t be done, as it was thought to be too cold to grow grapes there,” said Patrick Materman, Chief Winemaker for Brancott Estate. “But we took that first step and in doing so changed the New Zealand wine industry forever.” Today the region is world famous for its distinct style of wine.
