AROMA AND PALATE
This delicate ruby-red wine opens with a subtly spicy nose, hints of toasty oak and vanilla with damson plum and blackberry fruit.
On the palate, there is a vibrancy, with juicy red cherries and plums jostling with a fresh earthiness and touch of mocha, on supple tannins. The concentration is good with balanced acidity and the joyously sweet fruit carrying on to the finish.
This wine’s moderate tannins make it a great match for red or white meat. Try with roasted duck served with traditional plum glaze, or Asian-style with sweet and spicy hoisin sauce. The wine’s bright acids will freshen a braised lamb, highlighted with rosemary or tarragon, or highlight its spicy notes against a simple rice pilaf fragranced with clove and allspice.
